The West Bengal Government will provide Rs 5,000 to 30,000 farmers living below the poverty line for buying equipment.

“We will provide financial assistance to 30,000 farmers who are the poorest of the poor. Each of them will be given Rs 5,000 for buying agricultural equipment. The State Finance Department has approved it,” State Commerce and Industry Minister, Partha Chatterjee, told reporters at the Writers’ Building, the State Secretariat, on Tuesday.

According to him, the money will be given out through banks or other institutions. The block development officers will make the list of these farmers.
